Custom Hardwood Floor Reviews
Austin Customers on Work They Could Not Get Anywhere Else
We have built our reputation on doing the difficult work properly, and custom pieces are where that shows most clearly. We are proud of the floors we have laid across Central Texas and of the customers who still send people our way years later.
Custom Hardwood Work Austin Homeowners Ask For By Name
Most hardwood floors are a field of boards running one direction, and there is nothing wrong with that. But a border running the perimeter of a dining room, a feature set into an entry, walnut worked into oak, or a deliberate change of direction where one room becomes another are the things people notice and remember. They are also the things most flooring crews would rather not take on, because they take time, patience, and a willingness to cut into a floor you have already laid.
That is the work we like most. Our owner has spent 35 years in flooring, and custom pieces are the part of the trade he came up in. We have set walnut inlays into oak, brought a 1910 floor back after decades under carpet, and restored a floor at the Driskill Hotel here in Austin. Over 11 years in business and more than 1,500 customers across Central Texas, and this is still the work we are proudest to show people.
If you have an idea, or a photo you saved months ago and cannot stop thinking about, text it to us at (512) 300-3232. We will tell you honestly whether it will work in your space, what it will take, and what it will cost, before you commit to anything.
How Our Custom Hardwood Work Happens
Clear Steps, From Your Idea to a Finished Floor
-
Text us a photo, a sketch, or just a description. Custom work starts with understanding what you are actually picturing, and that is far easier to talk through with something in front of us.
-
We measure the space and set the design to your real dimensions, because a border that looks right in a photo can land badly against your walls. You see the layout and the materials before anything gets cut.
-
Inlays and borders are fitted piece by piece, not dropped in. We finish the floor, clean up, and walk the whole thing with you before we call it done.
Custom Work Done Right, Start to Finish
One Crew, From First Sketch to Final Board
Custom hardwood is not a job you want split between trades. The person who lays out the design should be the person who cuts it, because a border is only as good as the fit at its corners. The same crew that starts your floor is the one that finishes it, so nothing is lost in a handoff and there is one team accountable for how it turns out.
Custom hardwood is a real investment, and we want it to feel within reach. We work with Affirm to help spread the cost over time so you are not paying everything upfront. Getting started is simple, just reach out and we can walk you through what that looks like for your project.
Floors You Can Finance
Custom Hardwood Done Right, Every Single Time
Built to Be Looked At
Thirty-Five Years of It
Our owner has spent 35 years in flooring, and custom work is the part of the trade he came up in. Inlays and borders are unforgiving, because every cut is visible forever. Experience is most of what separates a clean result from an expensive mistake.
Cut to Your Room, Not a Drawing
Rooms are never square and walls are never straight. We lay the design out against your real dimensions before anything is cut, so a border meets your walls properly instead of drifting out of true across the length of the room.
We Tell You If It Will Not Work
Some ideas do not suit the room, the light, or the floor that is already there. We would rather say so at the estimate than take your money and hand you something you quietly regret. If there is a better version of your idea, we will suggest it.

Often, yes. It comes down to the floor's thickness, how it was installed, and whether we can make a clean cut without compromising what is around it. Solid hardwood gives us the most room to work with. Send us a few photos and we will tell you straight away whether it is worth doing.
-
Walnut against oak is the classic, because the color difference is strong without being loud. We have also used maple, cherry, hickory, and stained versions of the same species you already have. If you have a wood in mind, tell us and we will either source it or tell you why it is a bad idea in your room.
-
The materials are rarely the difference. The labor is, because every piece is cut and fitted individually. A border around one room is a modest addition. A medallion set into an entry is a bigger one. We price it before we start so you are deciding with real numbers rather than a guess.
-
Longer, and we would rather say so up front than rush it. The layout and the fitting are exactly what make it look right, and neither can be hurried without showing. We will give you a realistic schedule along with your estimate.
-
We are fully insured, so your home and our crew are protected throughout the job. We are also BBB A+ Accredited, which means we meet the standards they set for quality and customer care. We work to local regulations and industry standards on every project, whether it is a single room or a whole house.
-
We stand behind the quality of our work, and we are happy to walk you through the specifics during your estimate. Warranty details vary depending on the material, the manufacturer, and the scope of the job, so the estimate is the best time to ask questions and get clear answers that actually apply to your project.
-
We lay floor protection across any surface we are crossing with tools and materials, and we cover nearby furniture before we start. Dust containment is a real part of the job rather than an afterthought. Every day before we leave, we clean up the work area so your home stays livable while the project is still going.
-
We will send you clear prep instructions before we show up so you are not left guessing. Generally you will want to clear the work area and make sure we can get to it easily. On the day, we walk you through what to expect so nothing catches you off guard. We keep it simple.
